About

Marek Hamlin is an experienced criminal defence lawyer who has a reputation for providing expert, effective and professional representation for every client no matter what charge they are facing. Marek has a wide range of skills and experience through his diverse and successful career. He knows that no situation is “black and white” and is both direct and understanding of the situations people can find themselves in; this foundation enables him to be an effective and formidable advocate for the clients he represents.

Initially starting his legal career with the New Zealand Police in 2006 in the first Criminal Justice Support Unit in New Zealand, Marek worked on a wide range of prosecution matters alongside experienced prosecutors, detectives and other uniformed staff. This background experience enabled him to have thorough knowledge for both the prosecution and defence early in his legal career before obtaining both a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business majoring in management and marketing.

Marek then worked alongside some of Auckland’s top barristers before founding his own busy and progressive practice focusing on criminal defence. Marek has a large, diverse client-base and a good reputation for honest, direct and astute advice. He has worked on a wide range of serious matters and regularly appears in various courts throughout New Zealand building strong relationships with the right people.

Marek knows that communication, experience, understanding and perception of others are important parts of being the strongest advocate. He will work hard for every person he represents.
